Homemade Electrolyte Drink

Water will always be my go-to drink of choice; however, plain water day in and day out can be boring. It’s also important to maintain proper electrolyte balance. As a way to connect the two, I start every morning with a simple lemon water. This is a great way to rehydrate first thing in the morning after 8-12 hours without fluids, or as a way to replenish fluids on a hot day, or after working out.

Ingredients

  • 16oz filtered water

  • Juice of half a lemon

  • 1/4tsp sea salt (preferably pink Himalayan)

  • Optional: honey, for a touch of sweetness

Instructions

  1. Fill a tall glass or water bottle with water.

  2. Squeeze half a lemon and add salt.

  3. If using honey, stir that in until dissolved.

  4. Enjoy!

Note

If the lemon is too tart, try mixing in just enough honey to cut through that tartness. Over time, try reducing the amount of honey until you can go without it.
